Home Styling
  • I tend to use these in quieter parts of the home – an entryway, a bedroom, sometimes a bathroom. They're practical, but they don't read as hardware. More like small objects that happen to hold things. A coat, a linen shirt, a towel. The white porcelain catches the light softly, and over time they become part of the wall rather than something added onto it.
Cultural Impact

These are made in Valencia (Spain), a region where ceramics have been part of daily life for centuries. The material is porcelain — fired at high temperatures to achieve a finer, lighter body with a smooth, refined surface. It allows for greater precision in form and detail, while holding glaze with clarity and depth. Each piece is painted by hand, then fired in the kiln, where heat and time introduce subtle variation. That’s why no two are ever the same.

Material Intelligence

Pure porcelain, fired twice. The first firing sets the form. The second happens in a traditional reduction kiln. Handmade, without the use of molds.

This is what Glenn Adamson, in Fewer Better Things*, calls 'material intelligence'; a knowledge that lives not just in the hands, but in an understanding of how clay responds to heat, how fire behaves without oxygen, and how a surface that cannot be entirely controlled is precisely what makes it irreplaceable.
