The bowl that holds whatever matters today. Wide, shallow and footed, with a soft olive brushstroke moving across cream stoneware.

Handmade in Spain from high-fired stoneware, each handmade ceramic bowl is thrown and painted individually.The translucent olive glaze settles differently with every firing, creating subtle variations in tone and depth from one bowl to the next.

Made for olives, nuts, dips, sauces and small sharing plates, but useful well beyond the table. Leave one by the door for keys, beside the bed for jewellery, or simply out on the kitchen counter.

The soft green glaze and cream stoneware make this the quietest of the collection — easy alongside natural linen, wood, glass and other handmade tableware.

Available as a set of 2 or 4 handmade bowls. Pair them with our handmade plates and tableware for an informal table built around colour, texture and pieces that don't need to match exactly.

I tend to leave this one out. On the kitchen counter, the bathroom shelf, the table by the door. It holds whatever needs holding that day: keys, rings, the last olive, a stone picked up somewhere. The olive watercolour moves through the cream differently in different light. Morning it's warm. Evening it's something else. Over time you stop deciding where it goes. It just finds its place.

The olive in this bowl comes from the same landscape the makers wake to every morning. Grove after grove, running from the hills down to the coast. It's not a reference. It's just what they see.

The workshops behind this collection are part of a ceramic tradition that has been running in this part of the world for over a thousand years, carried by artisans who brought their knowledge from Persia, through North Africa, across the Mediterranean. Valencia's ceramic heritage once decorated the palaces of the Medicis and the floors of the Pope. What's remarkable is that it never became museum craft. It stayed in the hands of the people.

The world moved fast. They kept this as a sign of who they are.

Red earth mixed with quartz and feldspar, fired until it holds heat, resists water, lasts. High-fired twice, dense enough to start the morning with and look better for it over time.

Each bowl is hand-thrown and hand-painted, so the variations you see, where the olive pooled, where the brush lifted, are the record of how it was made. Not inconsistency. The maker's hand, still visible.

Painted beneath the glaze, not over it. They become part of the clay itself. They will not fade.
