I tend to place this where it can be seen from different angles — on a console, a shelf, sometimes just on its own. It doesn’t need much around it. The form carries enough weight, and the handle gives it a sense of movement depending on how it’s turned. It works with a single branch, or nothing at all. More of an object you live with than something you arrange.

These are made in Valencia (Spain), a region where ceramics have been part of daily life for centuries. The material is stoneware – fired at higher temperatures than earthenware, which makes it stronger, denser, and better at holding glaze. Each piece is painted by hand, then fired in the kiln, where heat and time shift the colour slightly. That’s why no two are ever the same.
